THE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS CURRENTLY CLOSED - CHECK BACK FOR UPDATES

The Ibañez scholarship was developed to encourage and promote higher education for undocumented college students who aspire to make a positive difference in our communities. DLJC believes that knowledge should have no borders and this scholarship will be used as a tool to assist in overcoming the financial obstacle that undocumented college students face while trying to pursue their dreams.

The scholarship was named after Ms. Dominguez’s grandfather; Alejandro Ibañez who migrated to the United States, like many others, to provide a better life for his family. This scholarship is honoring the struggle and sacrifices that Mr. Ibañez, and many like him, endured for their families to have the privileges they now possess. Individuals like Mr. Ibañez helped pave the way and have taught us the value of family, hard work, and the importance of pursuing an education. Mr. Ibañez passed away during Ms. Dominguez’s first year of law school. However, this scholarship, in his namesake, will continue to remind us of his perseverance and inspire students to achieve their goals that may have seemed unattainable at first.

AWARD: The recipient of the scholarship should exemplify the qualities Mr. Ibañez possessed and instilled in his family. If selected, each recipient will receive $500. Recipients of the award may not reapply after being awarded a scholarship. The award shall be used for school expenses only for the current semester.
